Welcome!

I’m a San Francisco Bay Area-based journalist, editor, and podcast coach specializing in health, biology, and social science. I believe in making powerful ideas relatable through beautiful storycraft — in any combination of words, image, or audio, maximizing the unique storytelling power of each medium.

Watch Grace explain the cutting edge of fertility science on Boston Globe Today.

I take pride in both telling my own stories and helping others craft theirs. I am co-founder of SeedPod Media and story editor of TED’s chart-topping WorkLife with Adam Grant podcast. I previously served for seven years as multimedia editor at TED Books, where I coached great thinkers to transform their big ideas into engaging prose.

As a journalist, my award-winning work has appeared in TheAtlantic.com, New York Times, Boston Globe, STAT, Longreads, PROTO.LIFE (formerly NEO.LIFE), and the Center for Investigative Reporting’s Reveal. My radio stories have reached the airwaves of NPR’s Morning Edition, KQED’s The California Report, and PRI’s The World.

My work has earned awards including a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, a Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting, an Alfred I. DuPont Award for broadcast and digital journalism, and a shared staff Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News with the inimitable Eagle-Tribune of Lawrence, Mass.

I also speak fluent Spanish, can’t resist a good salsa beat, and have lived in Mexico and reported stories across languages. My dream story is one that compellingly explains how the forces outside us (culture, environment) and inside us (biology) shape our behavior and thus our health.

Enjoy the work you find on these pages! And don’t hesitate to get in touch.
